allocation bias

— Bias resulting from the way participants in a study have been allocated to treatment comparison groups.

Full explanation:

Allocation bias results from systematic error in the creation of treatment comparison groups, such that the groups differ in prognoses because of differences in measured, or unmeasured prognostic variables; for example, by allocating sicker patients to one of the treatments.
